Palo Santo or "holy wood" comes from the Bursera graveolens tree, grown in Peru and Ecuador and protected by the government.

The Palo Santo tree is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon. It can live up to 100 years, then, remains up to 10 years more on-site for its aging process (becomes fragrant) and only its fallen branches are ethically harvested.

Its medicinal and holistic properties have made it one of the most trending smudging species.

1oz of Palo Santo sticks (approx 6-8 thin sticks)

  1. Hold a stick in a 45-degree angle pointing the tip towards the flame of a candle or match. Allow it to burn up to 1 minute and blow out the flame.
  2. Carefully, grab your Palo Santo stick and smudge your home or workspace to cleanse the air and energy. If you are doing an energy cleansing, remember to be mindful when smudging your space.
  3. When you are finished, place the stick in your Abalone Shell or Smudging Tray and let is smoke as an incense.

Palo Santo has medicinal properties, such as:

  • Air purifier
  • Detoxifier and immune enhancer
  • De-stressor and relaxant
  • Relieves headaches
  • Cold and flu treatment
  • Bug and mosquito repellent
  • Allergy relief

Recent research has confirmed its medicinal properties to inhibit tumor cells. Source: Chemical composition and anti-proliferative properties of Bursera graveolens essential oil

The history of Palo Santo dates back to the Incas where the Shamans used it for cleansing rituals and healing, similar to burning sage or cedar for Native Americans. It is used for meditating and smudging, to release bad energies, welcome positive energies and increase your vibratory levels.
